Anne of Green Gables

After arriving in Prince Edward Island, we stopped for some quick tourist advice and then headed straight to the Cavendish region of PEI made famous by Lucy Maude Montgomery, author of the classic children's novel, Anne of Green Gables.

There, we visited the Green Gables Heritage Place, part of L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish National Historic Site of Canada. The Green Gables Heritage Place is actually the home of cousins of Montgomery's grandfather, and has been restored and decorated as described in her novel and to depict a typical PEI farm of the late 1800's. Prior to our trip, Clare decided to read Anne of Green Gables so she was able to impart to the rest of us some useful information and knowledge about the backdrop for the novel and the novel's protagonists, Anne and Gilbert.
